Common Questions

To help you navigate your care at Piedmont Eastside Rheumatology, we’ve compiled answers to our most common patient inquiries.

  • Most HMO plans require a written referral from your primary care physician. Other plans may require pre-authorization. Obtaining the proper referral is the patient's responsibility. If you arrive without a required referral, you may choose to pay in full for the visit or reschedule.
  • Patients without a health plan are required to supply a credit card when making an appointment. A non-refundable  fee will be charged to see the doctor and secure your slot. The remaining balance is due at the conclusion of your visit.
  • Cancellations: We require at least 24 hours' notice. Missed appointments or late cancellations will incur a $50 rescheduling fee charged to your card on file.
  • Late Arrivals: If you arrive late, the front desk will determine if the doctor can still see you. You may be asked to reschedule to ensure we remain on time for other patients.
  • Yes. All co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance are due in full at the time of your visit. If we do not participate with your insurance or a required referral is not in place, you will be required to pay in full.
  • As a specialized practice, we reserve specific staff, equipment, and products for your appointment. Keeping a card on file (stored securely via our encrypted payment platform) helps us manage our waiting list and honor our staff's time in the event of no-shows.
